Born and raised in Downtown, New Orleans, Semaj Harris, a senior at Abramson Sci Academy, comes from a neighborhood where opportunity was little to none. Never falling victim to his situation, he went looking for opportunity or even making his own. To this day, he carries the same work ethic, to be successful in the present and in the future. He views the New Orleans Junior Journalism Program as an opportunity to gain knowledge about how others view different things in life. He also feels this is very important because of the knowledge that can be built from each week he spends reporting.
